About the Project

The Integrated Flood Resilience & Adaptation Project (IFRAP) is financed by the World Bank with an allocation of approximately USD 213 million. 1. Environmental Safeguards Specialist

Location: Federal Project Management Unit (FPMU), Islamabad

Role Summary

The Environmental Safeguards Specialist will oversee environmental compliance and ensure that all project components meet national and international safeguard standards. The position requires strong technical expertise in environmental management and hands-on experience with donor-funded projects.

Required Qualifications

Education:

  • Minimum Master’s degree in Environmental Sciences, Environmental Management, Natural Resource Management, Environmental Engineering, or a closely related field.

Experience:

  • At least seven (07) years of post-qualification professional experience in environmental management.

  • Strong focus on environmental safeguards in development projects.

  • Minimum three (03) years of direct experience working with the World Bank, ADB, IsDB, Government institutions, or other donor-funded programs.

  • In-depth knowledge of Environmental and Social Framework (ESF) and Operational Policies (OPs).

  • Minimum three (03) years of hands-on experience with government or donor-funded initiatives.

  • Knowledge of Social Safeguard Policies and related international standards.

  • Demonstrated experience in oversight and monitoring of safeguard instruments such as Resettlement Plans (RPs), Social Impact Assessments, and Grievance Redress Mechanisms (GRMs).

  • Familiarity with working conditions in Balochistan and knowledge of local languages will be preferred.
